dYdX Ops subDAO 2024 Q2 Finance Update

dYdX Ops
August 23, 2024

In the past the Ops subDAO has provided separated financial updates for the different entities, in an effort to make it easier to get the full picture of the Ops subDAO finances we want to provide combined updates going forward. The accounting for all subDAO entities is still publicly available - links are at the bottom of this post.

‍

SubDAO expenses overview

Source

‍

On average the Ops subDAO is spending about 350k USDC per month, this fluctuates due to different billing cycles, ranging from monthly to yearly, for different services (i.e. analytics software billed annually in April), and some special projects (i.e. Halborn security audit, billed in April).

‍

The indexer makes up the lion share of our expenses, which is why we opted to commit to the indexer service provider and to some AWS service levels for the rest of the mandate, by paying for it upfront (hence the June Indexer expense), this is expected to save around 300k USDC in total. This was already discussed in the previous Ops subDAO update.

As we have hired and will continue to hire reinforcements on our teams the core contributor cost increases accordingly, which we expect to be around 70k - 85k USDC depending on the positions we are able to fill. We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel, QA engineer and a TPM. For a more detailed breakdown of the subDAO expenses: here is the public accounting of the DOT and here the public accounting of the DOS.
